single in the church...
Monthly for the past year I have sat on a zoom call between several single Christian women around the age of thirty. How that happened is a story for another post.
They have nicknamed themselves “options open”.
It is an incredible privilege to listen to their stories.
To hear their grief in the (often) unwanted singleness.
And to understand how the church often alienates them in preference to families.
All of them are seeking to follow Jesus faithfully, and our little community helps encourage them to press on.
Most of them did not know each other prior to our meetups, but have found community and a listening ear in each other.
This week, one of them sent this article into our group chat and I thought it was worth posting. Please read it, not just the title :)
It will give you something to ponder.
Then find an older single person in your church and ask to hear their story. I’m betting it will be enlightening to you.
